Use the data sheet for the exact product you buy. A data sheet covers one maker's product, and two products that look the same can be classed differently. Makers update their sheets, so check the revision. Your supplier must give you the safety data sheet for a hazardous product: ask for it if it didn't come with the delivery. We link to the makers' own sheets; we don't copy or change them.

What's in a safety data sheet
Every safety data sheet has the same 16 sections. For a COSHH assessment on site, these are the ones to read:
- Section 1: the product, the supplier and their emergency phone number.
- Section 2: the hazards: the signal word (Danger or Warning), the hazard statements (the H codes) and the pictograms.
- Section 4: first aid.
- Section 6: what to do about a spill.
- Section 7: handling and storage.
- Section 8: exposure limits and the protection to use: ventilation, gloves, eye protection and masks.
- Section 13: disposal.
